Firelords avatar7/26/2023 Deadly Gas: This is how Avatar Roku died, via a faceful of toxic volcanic gas. Then again, that's what happens when you fight a fully-realized and veteran Avatar. Roku effortlessly dodges the only attack Sozin gets a chance to launch, then responds by leveling half of Sozin's palace and leaving him dangling from a rock pillar by his own cape. Curb-Stomp Battle: Sozin "vs" Roku.if you can even call it that.Roku mentions Water was the hardest element for him to master makes sense, since he was a native Firebender and Water is its elemental opposite, similar to how Aang had the greatest trouble mastering Earth bending, Air's opposite. While witnessing Aang seemingly doing his business, Sokka notes that the Spirit World does not in fact have bathrooms.Bullying a Dragon: Sozin tries to order around the most powerful bender on the planet.Though the moral may be more applicable to Sozin and his actions, Aang did not hear the story from his perspective at all, only Zuko does, leaving Aang's conclusion rather unsupported by what he was shown. Even when Sozin cites the fact Roku is still a citizen of the Fire Nations, Roku overrides this due to his status as the Avatar, a role he was given at birth, not by his own choice. Aang also asserts that Roku was "just as much Fire Nation" as Sozin to enforce his point that anyone be good or evil regardless of their nation, but this point is undermined by the fact Roku was also an Avatar and so his duty was to protect the world. In fact, Roku was shown to be inherently incorruptible due to his refusal to join in Sozin's ambitions from the start. However, Roku, specifically did nothing evil in the story, his only action being to try and stop Sozin from carrying out his plans. Broken Aesop: Aang concludes that Roku and Sozin's story is proof that anyone is capable of great good or great evil.Justified, as the vision is directly showing the reincarnation of the Avatar Spirit from Roku to Aang. Birth-Death Juxtaposition: Roku's death at the volcano is followed by a scene of Aang's birth.Aang disagrees, and believes that anyone could do great evil or good, no matter where they are. Always Chaotic Evil: Toph believes this of the Fire Nation ( or at least the Fire Lord's descendants) when she learns from Aang how Sozin betrayed Roku and started the 100-year war.In his prison cell, Iroh tells Zuko that as the great-grandson of both Roku and Sozin, he alone has the ability to resolve their endless conflict and restore order and peace to the world.Īt the end of the episode, Toph asks if friendships can transcend lifetimes where both Aang and Katara acknowledge and accept Toph's intuition. Roku then died from the lava and was reincarnated as Aang. But, at the last moment, when Roku was overcome by volcanic gases, Sozin realized that he could rule the world if he let Roku die, and he abandoned him. When Roku's island volcano erupted years later, Sozin came to help. When Sozin later greedily took an Earth Kingdom colony, Roku defeated him in battle and threatened to kill him if he again tried to do anything that crossed that line. As Roku was the Avatar, he knew the importance of balance between all people and disagreed. Sozin suggested to Roku that, as the pinnacle of civilization, the Fire Nation should control the destiny of the entire world to ensure universal prosperity. The sixth episode of the third season of the show, 'The Avatar and the Fire Lord' explores how Aang and Zuko both learn about the strong and close childhood friendship of Avatar Roku and Fire-lord Sozin. That means Zuko lineage remains debatable which doesn't matter since he made for a better Fire Lord than Ozai."Born in you, along with all this strife, is the power to restore balance to the world." That would make sense why Ozai has always been a terrible father to Zuko but whatever the case may be, the show nor the showrunners or any other material connected with the series hasn't confirmed anything. One of the letters had the word "our son Zuko" and was addressed to Ikem it further says "when I look into his eyes, it is as if I am looking into yours." Meanwhile, Ursa even once sent out dummy letters to check if Ozai was intercepting her letters with Ikem. Ursa loved someone else and could have well conceived Zuko with Ikem right before her forced marriage with Ozai. As you can recall, Ozai and Ursa were only wed on Azulon's behest and intention of mixing Avatar Roku's genes with royalty. We all knew Zuko was as the prince of the Fire Nation and son of Fire Lord Ozai but that didn't stop theories from existing that Zuko could well have been Ursa's son from her original lover, Ikem.
